First Time Dad?Allow Me To Introduce Myself

Salaam Alaikum everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself and this brand new blog that I’m excited to start, and tell you all about. My name is Bilal and the blog is called First Time Dad Better Late Than Never.

Bit of a mouthful I know! However as a proud Muslim, British Asian first time dad in his late thirties trying to figure out the beautiful complexities of raising a daughter in a diverse world.

I wanted to create a space where I can share my journey, experiences and insights, with those who are on a similar path to me, so that I can share lessons learned along the way. With the hope that I can help another first time dad like me with advice and support they might they may not get elsewhere!

I hope you join me on this beautiful journey of love, growth, hope, learning and everything in between In Sha Allah!

With that said , this blog will cover a range of topics that I think are important to address, including:

  1. Parenting & Baby care: This is where I will be sharing stories and lessons I have learned as well as any tips and tricks that could make life a little bit easier.
  2. Cultural & Religious Identity: Here, I will be looking at how myself and my family deal with cultural traditions and adapting to modern day life.
  3. Family & Relationships: I want to explore how building a strong bond will effect how we navigate the dynamics of family life and it impacts myself and my daughter/
  4. Personal Journey & Reflection: I will share how this major life changing event will help me grow as a Dad and an individual, by highlighting the challenges I face and the successes I enjoy being a first time dad, no matter how big or small they are!

My goal is to be as honest and open as I can be with you, as well as providing support, inspiration and practical advice, especially for older British Asian first time dads like myself. However I invite all first time dads regardless of their background to join in as I look to support all of us in this journey of fatherhood.

I understand that stepping into Fatherhood later in life can bring unique challenges and perspectives, and I’m hoping that by sharing my experiences, I can help others to feel more confident and connected with their little bundle of joy and family, as well as to enjoy their dad energy!

Thank you for joining me on this journey and I hope you come along with me. I look forward to start sharing with all of my fellow first time dads out there and being a supportive hub for all of you!

Jazakallah Khair

Bilal
